It can be hard to trust in the process because the road to success is a tough one.
You will face setbacks. And you will face times when you are working hard in the gym, but you are not able to see the results of your labor. Often, when most people are facing these odds, they quit! When you quit, you end your chances of becoming stronger, leaner, and healthier.
There are two principles that show the importance of why you have to trust in the process.
1) The Beginning Of The Process Is Rough
The beginning of a new process is always difficult.
It’s hard to start a training program when you’re weak, fat, or super-skinny. It’s also tough if you’re uncoordinated, unmotivated, or unathletic. When you do not know what in the blue sky you are doing, it makes getting in shape harder than it actually is.
Having the ability to endure those tough times will allow you to reach your goals. Tough times are inevitable. But tough people find a way to get through them. When I started Fitman Performance & Physique Training, I had nothing going on. I had limited clients, minimal income, and no respect within my industry. My business was a business in name only.
If I had quit after year 3, I’d be gone. I had been striking out a lot. I wouldn’t be here today to help you succeed with your health and fitness. If you quit training because it is the beginning stages are hard, your health with always be on spin cycle. Do you want to keep restarting? Do you want to keep breaking your own promises to yourself? No one on this planet who is successful is fine with walking away from their dreams.
You may get knocked down along the way to success. But we fall down so that we can get back up again.
2) The Process Will Reveal Your Character
There are two types of people in this world: the strong-minded and the weak-minded.
Strong-minded people embrace the process. They are optimistic and accept that there will be failures and that it will not be a smooth road to the top. But they also have the resolve to keep fighting. They do so even when tough times almost knock them out. When your mind is made of steel, you will not let the shots that life throws at you deter you from your ultimate goals.
Weak-minded people do not embrace the process. They are pessimistic and fear failure, so they rarely even try. If they build up the confidence to try, they often quit when the going gets tough. Because their resolve is non-existent, they lose in the fitness game. Their dreams remain dreams. Their goals remain at the top of the mountain, never to be reached. When you have a mind made of straw, you will fold at the first hint of trouble.
I was a coward in high school because I was too scared to run track at first. I was scared to have people witness my struggle or failure. That mindset limited my progress in athletics at that time.
As I matured, I transformed from a coward into a fighter. I accepted the fact that success requires struggle and reached my athletic goals.
Conclusion
You can be triumphant, but you must trust in the process.
I’ll holla at you next time.
