Tomorrow is guaranteed to no one.
No human on earth knows when their last breath will be taken. With that knowledge of not knowing when your time is up it is very important to do things today.
Many of us live in this “I’ll do it tomorrow” world. I call this The Tomorrow Theory.
“I’ll eat better and start working out tomorrow.”
“I’ll stop drinking and smoking tomorrow.”
“I’ll sleep better tomorrow.”
“I’ll start my business tomorrow.”
“I’ll forgive that person tomorrow.”
Do you know what happens in these scenarios? Tomorrow never comes until it is too late.
Tomorrow comes when the doctor says your unhealthy, sedentary lifestyle has led you to be significantly overweight or obese and you have diabetes.
Tomorrow comes when your self-confidence is shot because you do not like the physique you see in the mirror.
Tomorrow comes when your coach cuts you from the team because you did not take the sport seriously.
Tomorrow comes when you cannot walk up a flight of steps without having an asthma attack.
Tomorrow comes when you are so weak and frail that you cannot help a friend move out of their apartment.
Tomorrow comes when you cannot play tag with your children because you are beyond out of shape.
Tomorrow comes when you see a current picture of yourself and you do not recognize the person.
Tomorrow comes when the doctor says you have 12 months to live unless you adopt a healthy lifestyle.
You neglected your health your whole life. The heavy smoking, drinking, poor nutrition, minimal sleep, and lack of physical activity has cost you. Meanwhile, you are only 40 years old.
Your health is 100 percent in your control. The vast majority of ailments and conditions that occur are preventable.
With that knowledge, why can’t tomorrow be today? What is stopping you from making changes today?
Do you want to make more money? Commit to a plan of action to make that happen today.
Do you want to get into great shape? Start training hard and begin eating right today.
Do you want to be a better athlete? Commit 100 percent to your sport today.
Do you want to be a better spouse? Start communicating better today.
Do you want to start a business? Begin to develop a business plan today.
Do you want to get closer to your dreams? Start that mission today.
Even if you take small steps today, you are moving in the right direction. Whether you move forward an inch or a mile, you still moved forward. Those inches will add up to a great distance over time.
When I think back on my own life I have had too many moments where I would wait until tomorrow. Tomorrow never came and not taking action cost me time and opportunities that I will never get back.
Even when you fail you learn and I learned to not wait until tomorrow because it may never come. Through those experiences, I can enlighten you on the importance of taking care of business today.
Because tomorrow is guaranteed to no one.
I’ll holla at you next time,
The People’s Trainer
